šŸ“šāœļøBack to School ChecklistšŸ«šŸ§‘ā€šŸ«

āœØNow that most San Diego schools are back in session, Iā€™ve heard from several parents who want to make sure they start the school year off on the right foot. Over the next few posts, Iā€™ll go over my recommended back to school checklist so that you can set up your child and their IEP team for success.

āœ… Step 1ļøāƒ£

First, make sure you know your childā€™s case manager and general education teacher(s). Reach out to these people to say hello and to ask for the names and contact information for other service providers who will work with your child this year, like the speech therapist or occupational therapist. If any of these people are new to your child this year, send a copy of your childā€™s most recent IEP along with your greeting. Emphasize any accommodations that have been exceptionally helpful in the past, and highlight goal areas that you believe are particularly important for the teacher or service provider to know about.
