NO!

The word “No”

Sometimes it can feel like a school district’s first instinct is to say, “no” to any request the parent makes.

“No, we don’t offer that service.”

“No, our program model is different than that.”

“No, that wouldn’t be fair to the other students.”

“No, we can’t do that assessment.”

The reasons for these “no” answers can vary- it can be cost related, it can be because of staffing issues, it can be from misunderstanding the law, or even from pride.

Part of my job is to try and figure out the real reason behind that “no” and help the IEP team come up with a solution that works in the best interest of your child. Let’s turn some of your “no’s” in to solutions!
